Unlike other challenges here, I didn't have to think who to icon this time (and still, I'm rather late to the party XD) - Mr. Jon Bon Jovi

Alts and URLs...Collapse )

Back in the early 1990s, when I was just shy over 10 years old, I saw the video to "Living On A Prayer" for the very first time - and despite being raised on songs from the 1950-1970s, I was hooked. At first, in quite a covert way, since this kind of rock music was, more or less, labeled "bad" in my family. But in 1994, I proved my zodiac sign right (Aries XD) and got my very first Bon Jovi CD, bought mostly from my own, saved money *is still proud* And from that point on, nothing could stop me from collecting pictures, buying CDs and listening to the songs on a very regular basis. Only thing that's missing is seeing Jon and the band live in concert *sighs*, cause this man is, despite already being over 50, still a force to be reckoned with on a live stage (from what I can tell by watching videos and one very memorable live stream from Stuttgart some years ago)

Johnny Clegg, the "White Zulu":

Johnny Clegg is the only musician I've seen live more than once.

He grew up in South Africa, and he always had trouble with the South African Apartheid law, since half the band was black and there was nowhere they were allowed to perform. Here's the music vid of Scatterlings of Africa where he performs the Zulu Warrior Dance together with Steve Mavuso. He could still do it impressively well when I saw him on stage in 2003 (at age 50).
